FAQ Macungie Color Run
What is the Colorful Fun Run?
This is our premiere fundraiser for the 2022/2023 school year. We are organizing a fun, and very colorful, run on Saturday April 22nd. It will be organized into heats based on age group. Students (and parents) will run a course around the school grounds where they will have colorful powder thrown at them along the course. The event will raise funds through a few different avenues:
Pledges - We are asking students to reach out to friends and family to support them as they take part in our Colorful Fun Run. Pledges can be made via cash, checks made out to Macungie Elementary PTO, or through our online system {https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/register?school_uuid=6220b7fbdfe82&fbclid=IwAR25QCsiuUVY-2jygU--8KY6f4Rm2jWYnSTKztauBoK7IoaVZI8vyKdYE-U) 100 % of cash and check donations , and 95% of online donations will go to PTO.
Can we be involved without actually being at the event?
YES!!! Your child can still work to earn pledges for their school even if they cannot be at the actual event. In the two weeks leading up to the Macungie Color Run there will be a lot of excitement at the school. Classes that meet (or exceed) their fundraising goals will be rewarded with lots of fun spirit days like crazy hair days, pajama days, and extra recess, as well as some other surprises.
What should we have with us the day of the event?
Great question!!! Here are a few things you will probably want to have with you: a change of clothes, a towel or trash back to put down to protect your car seat, sunglasses to protect your eyes, and a bandana or mask to protect your nose/mouth as you go through the color if you want. (Don't worry the powder is non toxic and won't hurt you). We will have some food, drinks, and ice cream at the finish line so you may want to have cash. Don't forget to take lots of pictures and post on our facebook page!
How do we get cleaned up?
Let's face it- getting messy is the fun part, but getting cleaned up is important too! The easiest way to get the color off is to jump around and shake off as much as you can while you dance at the finish line. Everything will wash off with soap and water later. Color might stick around on clothing/shoes so be prepared and don't wear your newest or most favorite items.
Can I run with my child?
Absolutely! There is a $5 parent registration fee if you just want to help guide your child around the course, or go ahead and get the $15 kit so you can enjoy all the little extras like an event shirt, sunglasses, and color packet to toss at our starting line.
What is the route for the fun?
We will have maps of the route available the day of the event, and we will have volunteers stationed along the course as well. It will stay on the property of Macungie, Shoemaker, and Eyer and students will not be out on major roads. The full course will be about 1 mile long.
Can I volunteer?
Yes! There are a lot of ways to help, if you are interested sign up at the link below.

What will the money we raise get used for?
The PTO does so much for the school, students, and teachers throughout the year. Whenever we have a fundraiser this size, we always have one or two specific items or things we are hoping to add to the school. This year the PTO is planning to use the funds from the Macungie Color Run towards the new all Inclusive playground (70% of funds) , items for our specialty teachers ( 20%), and funds to help keep admission to PTO events as low as possible or free. ( 10% of funds).
Where do we park?
Please park in the Macungie and Shoemaker parking lots. We will have a small section of the Macungie parking lot blocked off for starting and finish line activities. Please be mindful as you drive through the parking lots, there will be lots of kids out and about.
Can spectators come to the event?
Of course! The kids love being cheered on!
What else will be at the event?
We will have a DJ, concessions, and treats at the event.
Can I just register to run at the event?
No - sorry!! We need to know how many people we have participating in advance so we can have the right amount of color at our color stations. So please do purchase your entrance to the Macungie Color Run in advance.
What is the color you are throwing? Is it safe?
Yes it is safe! Although it is best to try to keep it out of your mouth and eyes just for comfort reasons. It is non-toxic and biodegradable. It is basically corn starch, but I don't recommend eating it, it will taste like colorful dirt!
