What Does the PTO Do?
Every year the PTO spends a lot of time and energy fundraising to benefit Macungie Elementary School, but you may wonder, what have we been up to? Check back on this section of our website often for updates on the different things that PTO has sponsored to benefit our school, students & teachers!
Bottle Filling Station: Covid -19 has certainly changed many things for our school, but one of those things is that we are no longer going to have water fountains available. The PTO has sponsored the purchase and installation of two of the new bottle filling stations at Macungie.
Face Masks: PTO has provided customized protective face masks for all of our teachers this year.
Field Trips: Although this year may not be the year for field trips, every year the PTO has been able to raise enough money to completely cover the cost of the field trips for every student in every grade at Macungie.
Take Home Folders: You know that Tiger folder that your student brings home all of their important papers in? That is provided by the PTO! Make sure you check out the back cover of that folder each year for important information on how to support your school.
Agenda Books: Every student gets an agenda book every year, this is something that the PTO shares the cost of with the school.
Teacher Stipends: We know that teacher spend their own money on supplies for their classrooms each year, so we allow each teacher a small stipend they can use for classroom supplies.
Grants: Each year the PTO sets aside $5000 to award to the teachers in the school for special projects. These can be anything from new classroom technology, S.T.E.M. project supplies, setting up reading corners, or any other great creative idea they may have. A small board meets and reviews all of the applications each year and tries to grant as many teacher wishes as possible. Check back later in the year to learn about some of the special projects for the 20/21 school year.
